The Ella McKeirnan Memorial Fellowship, established in honor of Ella's remarkable life, embodies her spirit of excellence, resilience, and compassion. This fellowship aims to support students who demonstrate a passion for academic achievement, leadership, and community engagement, mirroring Ella's own multifaceted talents and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact. Through this fellowship, Ella's legacy continues to inspire future generations to pursue their dreams with courage, kindness, and determination, leaving an indelible mark on the world.

This Fellowship will allow high school students from Spokane, WA, to have the opportunity to conduct cancer research under the guidance of professors at Notre Dame. This unique experience is part of the Research Cures Cancer Corps (RC3) program from the Harper Cancer Research Institute. The program aims to build a broader pipeline to careers in cancer research, an effort that cancer researchers say is crucial for making cancer treatments effective for all populations. Selected participants will benefit from transformative research experiences.

The current cycle's online application is open through March 31, 2024.

The application can be found HERE. In addition to personal statements, applicants are required to provide the email address for one STEM teacher as a reference and have the option to provide an email for a second non-relative, adult reference.
