Keynote Speaker: Nicholas J. Petrelli, M.D., FACS

“Cancer Care Statewide: The Impact of Clinical & Translational Cancer Research”

As medical director, Dr. Petrelli oversees the state's largest and most technologically advanced cancer program. Under his leadership, the Graham Cancer Center was selected as a National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) and one of the original 16 NCI Community Cancer Center Programs (NCCCP). 

Dr. Petrelli came to ChristianaCare from one of the nation's leading NCI Designated Cancer Centers, Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY, where he led several clinical trials for a promising regimen of chemotherapy. He has conducted substantial research into the genetics of colorectal cancer and co-authored several manuscripts on the subject.

Dr. Petrelli is on the advisory board of the Annals of Surgical Oncology, co-editor of the journal Surgical Oncology, and previous editor of the Surgical Oncology Clinics of North America.

He is currently a Professor of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University, Affiliated Faculty, College of Health Sciences, University of Delaware, and was previously a Professor of Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
