Scheel Receives Prestigious IUSM Award

Molly  Duman Scheel, Ph.D., associate professor of medical and molecular genetics, has been awarded a Bert Elwert Award in Medicine for her proposal “SIRNA nanoparticle-mediated targeting of doublesex in the human disease vector mosquito Aedes aegypti.”  


Scheel’s proposal was selected by the IUSM Biomedical Research Committee. The award is accompanied by a one-year $40,000 Research Enhancement Grant.The Elwert Award seeks to support medical research that is likely to improve Indiana University School of Medicine’s (IUSM) reputation in the medical and scientific community. The late Bert Elwert was an IU alumnus who earned a doctoral degree from the School of Business.
