Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide. And although many would consider cancer one disease, it's actually a general term for a group of diseases where diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis depend on the type of cancer someone has. At the University of Notre Dame, the Harper Cancer Research Institute (HCRI) supports a community of researchers with diverse expertise, backgrounds, and approaches who are working to understand cancer in order to more effectively prevent and treat these complex diseases.
For World Cancer Research Day, see how Notre Dame researchers from the HCRI are working to understand, prevent, and fight back against cancer.
