BISEACH is Irish for Healing - Improving Cancer Outcomes through Collaborative Research

The University of Galway, the Lambe Institute for Translational Research - Galway, and the Harper Cancer Research Institute have come together to establish a long-term strategy of faculty and student collaboration.

Principal investigators, faculty, and students from both institutions join forces to identify research opportunities, partner in grant applications, and create joint publications and patents. Fighting Irish Fighting Cancer on both sides of the Atlantic aim to build on the infrastructure, talent, and ideas of both institutions for a global impact in the area of cancer research.

About Sharon Glynn, Associate Professor in Pathology

“Evaluating iNOS as a therapeutic target for the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer”

Professor Glynn is a 2022 Fulbright Scholar. She was awarded a Science Foundation Ireland Career Development Award in 2018 for her research into the role of nitrosative stress and human endogenous retroviruses (HERV-K) in the development of high-grade breast and prostate cancer. Her current work is focused on elucidating the role of inflammation pathways, particularly in the progression of triple-negative breast cancer and metastatic prostate cancer. About Professor Corrado Santocanale

"Dual role of the S-phase promoting kinase CDC7 at origins and at replication forks: implications for CDC7 targeting drugs"

Professor Corrado Santocanale received his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Milan, Italy, in 1993. His laboratory studies the mechanisms that regulate genome replication in human cells with particular emphasis on the Cell Division Cycle 7 kinase (CDC7).
